• reflecting on their similarities,
• reconciling their differences, and
• refining the results.

This approach produces a summary of common practices adopted independently by many different authors attempting to solve similar problems.

As such, each Star-Interop Standard Interface package codifies the widely-held expectations regarding its central concerns.
